Heroes in a Half-Shell

I love HALLOWEEN! It's my 2nd favorite holiday next to Christmas. Here's a look back at costumes of Halloween past.
Kelly & Zack from Saved By The Bell (Our 1st married Halloween)

Strawberry Shortcake & Friends

Aaargggghhh! A pirate.

Some costumes are obviously favorites of mine:
I think the husband makes a wonderful scarecrow. He's sweet enough to wear whatever my little heart desires on Halloween...which is usually something most men would rather not wear. Maybe we'll do Peter Pan & Wendy next year...

This year the hubby was on call (dang doctor life) for Halloween weekend so I participated in a group costume with 3 of my dearest friends. We were the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES. I've been wanting to be them for Halloween for FOREVER and our costumes were awesome if I do say so myself. Caroline had everyone over to her house to watch the USC vs. Tennessee game as well as the Clemson vs. Georgia Tech game and to celebrate Halloween. Thankfully, Carolina squeaked out another win and Clemson lost their first game of the season (WooHoo) Enjoy our turtle power pictures!

Pinnable Me: Cocktails

Who doesn't love a good drink? I tend to go for things that are less sweet but do enjoy the occasional fruity concoction. For this Pinnable Me Friday, I'm linking up with Paw Prints & Pastry Bags to bring y'all some yummy looking cocktails for you to enjoy. Drink up!

I love this game.

I'm linking up with The Vintage Apple to bring you my Eff-Marry-Kill : Gossip Girl Edition

The husband immediately leaves the room when he hears "you know you love me, xoxo" He thinks that Gossip Girl is the stupidest show ever made. Well, to be honest, I don't think it's high quality tv, but oh do I LOVE it so.

Here are three lovely gentlemen to choose from: Chuck Bass, Dan Humphrey & Nate Archibald

So let's start with the first, who would I eff? No question, Chuck Bass. I think he's a little strange and quite the bad boy which makes him a perfect choice. I could definitely see him being under some people's kill category though. He's so pretty, I could stare at him for a night.

Marry? Nate Archibald.
Good breeding? Check.
Dashingly handsome? Check.
Knows how to treat a lady? Check.
So maybe his family has had their fair share of issues, but he seems to have come out of it well with his head on his shoulders. Marry me please.

So that only leaves Dan Humphrey to knock off. He irritates me. Alot. I can't deal with the whiny emo "woe is me" way of going through life. He seems to be such a handful and exactly what I would want if what I'm looking for is an overly emotional woman. Bye Bye Dan.

My birthday came and went. I don't really feel traumatized yet about turning another year older. I feel like I'm where I'm supposed to be at 27. A college grad, married for a couple of years and considering babies in the near future (before 30 near future) Maybe when said babies are celebrating their 27th birthday I'll feel old then. :-)

We went to dinner last Friday with my lovely group of friends in Columbia at M Vista. I'm blessed to have such sweet friends to celebrate with and who give me such pretty things. (Like my pretty Kate Spade earrings that I love) There were no less than 30 wine glasses on our table because pretty much everyone decided to do a flight of wine, I promise we're not all alcoholics.

Tigers vs. Tarheels

No, the title of this is not a joke. We ventured this past Saturday to what my husband more affectionately refers to as God's Country. I think that Death Valley on a Saturday is my personal hell not that I'm being dramatic or anything with all of those people in orange. Yuck. It was Carolina's bye week so I so lovingly agreed to attend the Clemson game with my husband. Despite my whole family being die-hard Carolina fans, we also have season tickets to Clemson (my granddaddy is a Clemson grad) Despite my attempts to pray and will Clemson to their first loss, they didn't lose. I don't remember the score of the game but it was 50-something to 20-something when it was all said and done. Clemson is now 8-0 for the season. I'll be glad to see my Gamecocks back in action next week again the Tennessee Volunteers minus our Marcus Lattimore who was injured in the Mississippi State game and is out for the rest of the season.

I'm linking up with The Belles of Saturday to bring you our tailgating pictures from Saturday. There weren't very many because we were so late leaving Columbia. Whoopsies.

Someone parked in our spot. Thankfully, we have 2. I left them a nice note. I should've added a "Go Gamecocks" at the bottom

We try and keep it as classy as possible in Clemson

Pinnable Me: Kiddos

My bestest friend is 16 weeks pregnant and we are anxiously awaiting whether we're going to be welcoming a baby boy or baby girl in March. In honor of her and the fact that she's having a girl (according to me and the oh-so reliable Chinese gender chart), here are some precious little girls.

Disclaimer: She (and I when that time comes) would welcome either a baby boy or baby girl, I just found some precious little girls via pinterest

"Be careful for nothing, but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Put your worry unto God. It does no good for you to sit and worry about something, it only causes more stress. If you put your worry on God's shoulders, he will carry your burden for you. Who better than to have on your side than God."

Philippians 4:6-7

Today is the year anniversary of having to put our sweet rescue pup, Gatsby Fitzgerald Huey, to sleep. He had severe seizure issues that weren't being controlled by medicine. At the end, he was having trips to the emergency vet almost weekly for his seizures (He wouldn't just have 1, 2, or 3 seizures but would have over 10 in a 24 hour period) We took him to several specialist vets in South Carolina & North Carolina, had lots of expensive tests done and after more than $10,000 seeing these specialists and trying different medications; we made the decision to put our sweet sweet Gatsby to sleep. It was a tough decision for Derrick and I as our poor pup was only 8 months old. Only 2/3's of seizure canine patients respond to treatment and unfortunately our Gatsby was a part of the other 1/3.

He was such a sweet loving affectionate puppy who was never sad
even when he was having seizure issues. He loved meeting new people and loving on his pug brother. He was an active little thing who always had a wagging tail and a smile on his face even when his sweet little legs were shaved from the catheters being put in. We had him cremated and sent back to us so we could have him at home again. We sure will miss our Gatsby.

I found this sweet poem about puppy death called Rainbow Bridge:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Crafty Ladies

Last Friday night (and now I have a Katy Perry song in my head), Andrea and I went over to Caroline's house to have dinner and make arts & crafts. I brought dessert, Caroline made quiche and Andrea brought a yummy casserole. I had seen this picture on pinterest of what I thought was a painted pumpkin. (For some reason, pinterest is not letting me embed. Weird. Here's a pic of the pumpkin. Here's where the idea came from)
Well, come to find out after clicking on the link, it's not a painted pumpkin, but one made with modge podge and scrapbook paper. Whatevs. We decided to paint away and see what they would look like. I think they ended up looking pretty awesome and can't wait to add it to my front porch fall decor.
All 3 of us with our pumpkins, I look like I've had a little too much wine.
Andrea's big "B" (She's pregnant btw, like 4 months pregnant and still looks awesome)

Go Shawty, It's Your Birthday

Today, October 12, 2011, I'm celebrating 27 years.
I can't believe that I'm somehow 27? Where did the time go?
I've been out of high school for almost 10 years. Yikes.
College ended for me almost 6 years ago.
Marriage started over 3 years ago.
Happy Birthday to ME!
