Al's Upstairs

We ventured over to the wedding venue later on in the day Friday for the wedding rehearsal. The Lace House is absolutely beautiful! I had never been to a wedding there before and was feeling a little *green* that I didn't know how beautiful this place was 3 years ago. :-) I could have never planned an outdoor wedding. Caroline handled it very well; I, on the other hand, would have been a wreck especially with the threat of a hurricane to start off the wedding week. After making sure we all knew how to walk (5 members of the bridal party are married, the other 2 are engaged) we headed over to Al's Upstairs for dinner with the soon-to-be husband and wife and their close friends and families. I don't remember my wine glass ever being empty so I can't say how many glasses of wine I enjoyed, just that I certainly did enjoy several.

Bridesmaid's Brunch

What a whirlwind weekend! Caroline is now a MRS. and we had such a WONDERFUL time celebrating all weekend long. Friday afternoon, we had a delicious lunch with the bridesmaids hosted by some wonderful women who could COOK. The meal was delicious, along with our drinks which were "yellowbirds" None of us girls had ever heard of a yellowbird before but they assured us that they were very popular back in the day. They were quite potent.

"Yellowbird"
1 oz light rum

1/4 oz Galliano

1/4 oz Creme de Banana

2 oz pineapple juice

2 oz orange juice

Combine ingredients in a high ball glass, stir and enjoy.

The bride wore white to the bridesmaids brunch and we were so grateful that Hurricane Irene spared us the rain and wind.

Pinnable Me: Wedding Love

I have weddings on the brain as my one of my best friends, Caroline, is getting MARRIED this weekend! My weekend will be full with a bridesmaid's luncheon, wedding rehearsal and wedding since I'm a bridesmaid in her wedding. Caroline and I have known each other since high school and we were roommates our freshman year at the College of Charleston. We talk or see each other every. single. day. She's one of my favorite people to be around because of how HAPPY she is. Her fiancee sure is a lucky man.

Pep Supper Freshman Year of College (Don't even ask, each sorority does a skit, different themes each year, my sorority had "A Chorus Line", not sure about Caroline's, the theme was "Broadway Shows")

It's a wonderful thing to find someone to share the rest of your life with. For this pinnable Friday, I've linked up with Paw Prints & Pastry Bags to bring you some beautiful pictures of brides + grooms in love.

It's Almost Here

FOOTBALL SEASON!

I cannot wait to put on my garnet and black and cheer on my South Carolina Gamecocks at their first game versus East Carolina. The game is in Charlotte and my Clemson fan husband. Yes, I, a die-hard Carolina fan somehow managed to marry a Clemson fan. He's a good sport though and realizes how crazy I am much I love the Gamecocks and goes to the games with me.

All of the sports networks are saying this is Carolina's year which makes any Carolina fan nervous. Our own Alshon Jeffrey was one of the players on the COVER of Sports Illustrated. Crazy. Here's hoping for an amazing season.

GO COCKS!

Birthday Wish List - Part 2

Here it is:

Part 2 of my birthday wish list.

There are so many pretty fall things out there right now; it makes it so HARD to decide. Having a birthday in October is perfect for me. Football season: check. Cooler fall weather: check. SC State Fair AND Halloween: check. It's far enough away from our anniversary (June) and hubby's birthday (March) and is still a couple of months away from Christmas. We like to celebrate all year round.

Smathers & Branson

HIMYF is hosting a super giveaway over at her blog: a Smathers & Branson credit card wallet! I love Smathers & Branson, especially their collegiate items. Being a Carolina girl, of course I love the SC palmetto tree + moon credit card wallet.

Paintin' Skillz

I somehow managed to convince my husband that we should go to couple's night at Bottles and Brushes last Friday night. Being the sweet man that he is, he agreed to indulge me in my need to sit in a couple's painting class for an hour. I had been once before with my cousin Kimberly. See our beautiful works of art:
For couple's night you do a two-sided painting. One person paints one canvas, the other paints the other and you put them together to get your one painting. We painted the Ravenel bridge. I painted it in the daytime and Derrick did the night side. Derrick got just a *little* upset when I tried to take my brush to fix his. What can I say? It's the control freak in me. I asked him where he thought we could hang these (ha ha), maybe we'll give them to my parents to proudly display in their home along with my brother's artwork. (He can actually paint)

Pinnable Me: Football Fashion

I've had football on the brain lately. I cannot wait for college football to start in a few weeks so for this pinnable Friday I've linked up with Paw Prints & Pastry Bags to bring you some football fashion (in Gamecock garnet + black of course) We do Gameday fashion a little different here in the south and I wouldn't have it any other way. GO COCKS!

Blast From The Past

My aunt Tibia put some old school pictures up on Facebook last week and I love them! My mom is the youngest of 14 (yes, seriously and no, they are not Catholic) and my dad has 2 brothers and a sister. Family is such an important thing and I've been blessed to have a lot of family and a lot of love. Enjoy!

Weekend in Review

This past weekend was busy busy busy which seems to be the theme for my life lately. Friday night, Derrick and I went to a welcome party for the first year ophthalmology residents at one of the doctor's homes in downtown Charleston. We could only stay for a little while because we were headed to the Family Circle Cup Stadium on Daniel Island for the Hootie & the Blowfish concert. Toad the Wet Sprocket opened for them on Friday night and the husband is a huge fan so I was glad we got there in time for him to see a little bit of their show. I took video of Darius Rucker covering Toad the Wet Sprocket's "Crowing"

We rode with The Magrath's out to Daniel Island (Thanks Ashley for driving us :-) ) and went to Gilroy's afterwards for a late night snack.
Hubby + I in our seats-It was sooo muggy outside!

Hootie!

The Magrath's & The Huey's (excuse the grainy phone pic)

We also had tickets for Saturday night but decided not to go and had a date night instead. We had dinner at Zia Taqueria with The Coker's. I also somehow managed to convice Derrick to see The Help with me afterwards at The Terrace Theater next door. I have yet to read the book but I have it and definitely plan on starting it this week. It was such a great movie and Derrick even enjoyed it despite him being less than thrilled about going to see it.

Sunday morning, I had to leave early to head back to Columbia for a Bridal Tea Shower for Caroline. I can't believe her wedding is in less than 2 weeks! I didn't take any pictures but did *borrow* one from Facebook that someone else took.

Lindsey, Lee, Caroline & Brittany

I left the shower to rush home, change into my Tony Romo jersey (Go Cowboys) and set up my computer for fantasy draft. My husband is the commish of our league *I'm so proud* and this year, we decided to do a live draft at our home. Unfortunately, I couldn't be there because of my prior commitments but was able to be FaceTimed in via the computer (oh technology) I can't wait until football season starts!

Thus ends my whirlwind weekend, here's hoping for a much less jam packed one this weekend.

Pinnable Me: Pug Love

Everyone that knows my husband and I knows of our love for all things pug. We wanted to get a puppy once we got engaged and after months of discussion (he wanted a golden retriever, I wanted a fru-fru dog like a yorkie) we finally somehow settled on a pug. Insert Sir Walter Raleigh Huey born February 11, 2008
I've got pugs on the brain as Raleigh is laying at my feet right now passed out. For this pinnable me Friday I've linked up with Paw Prints & Pastry Bags so that you can enjoy all things pug!
