Being born and raised in SC basically means you must be a Hootie & the Blowfish fan. I remember going to see them when I was in 8th and 9th grade and they were first coming out as a well-known band.
My parents were on a flight back in the late 90's and someone had accidentally sat in my mom's seat. She told him that it was hers and he realized that he had sat in the row in front of his. My mom realized that it was Mark Bryan from Hootie and asked for his autograph for me. He, of course, said yes and signed the back of one of my dad's business cards "Thanks Brittney! Flightily, Mark Bryan" (He spelled my name wrong, but mom thought it was too much to tell him to get out of her seat and correct his spelling)
Yep, that's right, I still have it in the frame I put it in back then in my room at my parent's house.
They still perform every August in Charleston at the Family Circle Cup Stadium. I went for the first time last year and LOVED it so much that I knew we would have to attend again this year. It's a 2 day event and this year's act on Friday night is Toad the Wet Sprocket. The husband is a huge Glenn Phillips fan (we saw him + Darius Rucker at the Windjammer a couple years back) so of course we'll be going both nights.
90's music at it's best :-)
This was the live performance of "Let Her Cry" at last year's concert
I love going to see them. I hope you have fun. I tried very much not to seem like a stalker when I asked him for his autograph. :-)
